Nearly 60 Super Bowl Prostitution Arrests Made in Arlington

Those arrested for prostitution during Super Bowl festivities will be appearing in court in the next several weeks.

PLANO, TX, February 23, 2011 /Health and Fitness PR News/ -- Accused to Face Court Dates in the Coming Weeks

Local police made good on their promise to focus on Super Bowl prostitution in Dallas-Fort Worth and Arlington. Local officials in these areas have arrested more than 66 people for prostitution-related offenses during the period surrounding Super Bowl XLV. In the coming weeks, the accused persons will face court dates where they may choose pleas and present defenses to the charges.

While many news sources find the number of prostitution arrests to be low, the arrests in Arlington easily best the combined number from the past two Super Bowls - where prostitution was an equally big problem. NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reports that only 13 suspects were apprehended for prostitution at last year's championship game in Miami and a meager 11 were made in the Tampa Bay Area in 2009.

Arlington officials made the majority of the arrests by having undercover officers respond to online advertisements for prostitution or escort services. Law enforcement also created fictitious ads themselves to entice would-be offenders. Overall, local law enforcement is labeling their prostitution-sting campaign as a success. Officials believe that they discouraged a significant amount of people from engaging in sex crimes through their aggressive stance on the matter.

Although over 60 men and women were arrested for solicitation or prostitution, these accused people are innocent until proven guilty. Prostitution convictions can lead to jail time, heavy fines and other legal repercussions. However, prostitution convictions also have a negative impact on one's reputation, employment opportunities and family life.

Those accused of sex crimes such as solicitation and prostitution are advised to contact an experienced criminal defense attorney. A defense lawyer can help his client establish a legal defense strategy and achieve the best possible outcome for the accused person.
