Slip and Fall Accident Traps Man Overnight, New York Personal Injury Lawyer Investigates
A Long Island street sweeper suffered broken bones after a slip and fall accident lands him at the bottom of a drywell for over seven hours.
NEW YORK, NY, June 29, 2011 /Health and Fitness PR News/ -- A street sweeper spent eight hours overnight in a wet, debris-filled drywell before he was rescued, reported the New York Post.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) opened an investigation into the incident. New York personal injury lawyer David Perecman is following the investigation of the slip and fall accident in New York. The Perecman Firm has over 50 years of experience handling personal injury and premises liability cases.
The victim of the New York slip and fall accident, Joe Hranicka, left his truck to move a large piece of plywood board that he thought had been dumped as trash.
But the board had been purposely placed there to cover an old well that had a missing grate. Hranicka was unaware of this and, as he bent down to move the board, he lost his balance and fell down the 25-foot hole.
A bicyclist, Tim Eareckson, called 911 after seeing the street sweeper's truck running in the empty parking lot of the strip mall without its driver and hearing Hranicka's screams for help.
According to the New York Post, a hospital spokeswoman said Hranicka suffered two fractured wrists in the New York slip and fall personal injury accident as well as cuts and contusions.
The OSHA investigation into the slip and fall accident in New York could take up to six months.
A few years ago New York personal injury lawyer Perecman handled a case where a construction worker fell into an unsecured hole, falling one story down. The case was settled at the trial for $2,100,000.
When a person slips, trips or falls due to the negligence of another individual or business and is injured as a result, a slip and fall injury has occurred.
"If owners and managers of private property violate statutes and regulations that expose workers to actual hazards and/or the potential for significant risk, they may find themselves responsible for a slip and fall death or a slip and fall serious injury in New York," the personal injury accident lawyer said.
Injuries from a slip and fall accident can range from minor bruising to broken bones, back and neck injuries, concussions, brain damage and even death. Individuals who have been hurt in any type of slip and fall personal injury accident, need to know what their rights are.
